The Coment App for Slack lets you review, comment and approve all your documents in Slack.

The following section covers all the questions you might have. If you don’t find what you are looking for below, feel free to drop us a line at support@coment.in, we will gladly help you.

To install the Coment app for Slack, just visit this page and click on the ‘Add to Slack’ button. Then you will be guided through the installation. It takes no more than 30s. In case you have trouble installing it on your Slack workspace, feel free to contact us at support@coment.in.

First, you need to invite the Coment App (/invite @Coment) in a public or private channel to be available on that channel.

Then, every time you add a document to that channel, the app will automatically ask you if you want your team to comment, review or approve. If you select ‘Yes’, the app replies with a link to comment on it and review/approve it.

The app can be available on all public and private channels (use /invite @Coment to add it).

Coment is currently not available in direct messages or group messages.

We currently have no limit. You can invite unlimited people to comment on the document.

Yes, external people can comment on your document. To do so, when you upload a file, wait for the reply from Salck and click on the ‘Share’ button or just right click on the ‘click here’ and select ‘copy the link’. Then, you can share it with external people via email, whatsapp or any messaging service. People clicking on the link will be asked to enter a display name for their comments.

We suggest that you copy/paste the following message in the #general channel (or any appropriate channel):

We just installed Coment, a new app on our Slack workspace. With Coment, you can comment, review and approve all your favorite documents directly on Slack:
* Comment with your team, in one click, directly on the document
* Access directly who reviewed and approved your documents
* No account needed
* Invite people outside your workspace to comment on the document

–> Have faster / more efficient backs and forths and handle feedback better, even from your smartphone

How does it work?

The app needs to be invited (/invite @Coment) in a public or private channel to be available on that channel.
Then, every time you add a document to that channel, the app will automatically ask you if you want your team to comment, review or approve. If you select ‘Yes’, the app replies with a link to comment on it and review/approve it.

Supported formats: PDF, images (png, jpeg,…), Office (Word, Powerpoint,…).
Coment is currently not available in direct messages.

For any questions or feedback, you can contact Antoine at antoine@coment.in.

We support the majority of common file formats:

  • PDF documents
  • images: png, jpg, jpeg, bmp, ico
  • Microsoft office documents : doc, docx, ppt, pptx, xls, xlsx
  • Pages, Numbers, Keynote formats

  • HTML

When clicking on the link provided by the Coment app, you will access a page that will allow you to view and comment your document. You can add 2 types of comments :

  • general comments: click on the right-side bar + button, you will be able to add a general comment for the document.
  • localized comments: just click where you want to comment, a new comment will pop up

To review / approve / reject a document, click on the appropriate button on the post from the Coment app that follows the upload of a document.

When someone performs such an action on the document, the app adds a reply on the post indicating ‘John Doe approved the document’ for example.

  • :yeux: indicates the number of people who said that they reviewed the document
  • :coche_blanche: indicates the number of people who approved the document
  • :x:  indicates the number of people who rejected the document
  • :bulle_de_parole:  indicates the number of comments made on the document
